Mind-body medicine & energy healing in perimenopause
It’s no secret that theories of energy healing are influencing the practices of medicine, psychotherapy, yoga, coaching, & somatics
For me and many of the women I work with, this has created a hunger for a new model of the way we care for our modern day female bodies that have ancient biochemical & psychological inner workings
Mind-body-spirit medicine entered the mainstream a while back, but is commonly still put into a box ‘over there’ (like heaven forbid we bring anything spiritual or woo hooey into an intelligent medical space that relies so heavily on science & evidence to do all the talking)
I remember thinking “people will either judge me or not take me serious if they discover how enthralled I am with the spiritual goodness that supports our health, wellbeing, & life path”
So I quietly pursued my own studies and secretly worked with mentors who have helped take my own life (and health... and spiritual understanding) to new levels
And I had to get to a point where the fear of being judged no longer mattered (I’m about 82% there… still a work in progress)
For probably close to 15 years now, this has been a deep area of personal study & quiet contemplation of mine… an area that I have always felt deserved to be more interwoven into women’s health and modern day medicine & healing
After all - there are countless individual understandings of higher energies, God or Allah (of whatever name you choose to use), and Universal guidance…
But if we must quote the research here, it’s been well founded that people with an active spiritual practice are healthier, happier, have longer health spans, & feel more at peace in life (this has sure been true in my own life)
To this end - after 15+ years of receiving guidance & mentorship and being devoted to my own personal practice - I’m finally gathering tangible words and frameworks (or maybe just the bravery?) to allow that which is labeled as ‘not defined by science’ or even ‘‘woo woo’ to be a more accessible template for deeper, more sustained healing… particularly for women in their late 30s/40s who are at a point in their lives when they question (rightfully so) their relationships to their bodies, to their friends & loved ones, to their work, and to their higher purpose (incl why fear, anger, and anxiety feel so potent during these years)
That said, this newly broadened exposure of mind-body-spirit medicine has run the risk of trivialization because of the beloved science world really taking a stronghold, causing a diluting effect of the power of energy healing and spirituality in health & medicine
If we read the fine print, health doesn't need to be hard or restrictive or perfectly regimented - yet - modern day women are being sold into seeking the fastest way to health optimization (the ‘hacks’, the optimization supplements, and the ever-changing diet cultures that promote plans that deplete the body *not to mention the pocketbook* of nutrients for the glory of quick fat loss)
And this rat race leaves women feeling disappointed, diminishing hope, and increasing pressure to find more ways ‘to be perfect’
The gap I see in conversations even among respected women’s health leaders is there’s a failure to embrace the fact that health & healing takes place over a lifetime and often requires delving into the depths of our own shadow sides, the sides that actually keep us up at night and keep our minds unfocused during the day (and our bodies buzzing)
We could all use the reminder that we need patience for ourselves, others, our bodies, and the process of rolling up our sleeves to do the deeper work required on an energetic level
And that’s the challenge I want to bring forth in my work as a women’s health specialist - to bring to light an elegant system for understanding the deeper layers of your feminine health and why the imbalances exist in your body (physical + emotional + spiritual + energetic bodies) that don’t seem to be resolving through traditional means or even concierge medical care
You won’t find one-size-fits-all formulas that apply equally all women or situations
Instead you’ll learn universal principles that can be effectively applied with careful consideration and understanding of your own physical, emotional, energetic, & even spiritual journey (again, whatever that currently means to you)
In a frenetic world that operates at a pace that feels hardly sustainable to most, it’s even more important to support women in finding the sacred space to pause, slow the roll, and reconsider not only what it is that they actually *need*, but also what they *want* (beyond the weight loss, the getting rid of belly bloat, the desire for more daily energy & less brain fog, etc…. there’s something underneath all of these physical impairments…)
And this is so commonly a missing component for women in their late 30s, 40s, and even early 50s - not having given themselves the gift of precious time and attention to reevaluate life, health, & relationships through a more loving, creative, & intuitive lens
Rather than presenting hard-to-conceptualize concepts that feel ‘out there’, I’ve created a down-to-earth, practical map with intuitive framework so your perimenopausal healing and wellness journey can be more direct, more deliberate to your personal needs, and perhaps even more profound
This is how I work with private clients who crave support in a more intimate setting (those who have worked me with me know we get down to business but use a less-is-more approach)
