When you work hard but still don’t feel optimally healthy… (part 1)

This message is particularly for you if you:

Have given ample time, money, & energy to having an impeccable diet, improving your fitness, and taking a myriad of supplements but you’re still silently holding the frustration of “why is my body not losing the weight, why is my energy still low, why is eating such a guessing game, why does being healthy feel so hard and expensive?

Settle in with a blanket and cup of tea, sister, because I have a 2-part message just for you (and it’s a tad long, so go slow and hang with me here)

In recent years, I’ve had an undying need to answer this question of “why is it that women in their late 30s & 40s who work so hard to take care of their bodies still don’t feel optimally healthy?”

In part, because I was one of those women

Secondarily, as I transitioned from my clinical work as a pelvic health specialist into my coaching practice, something that left me scratching my head was the fact that the women I worked with were health nuts who already were doing all of the things one would think would be good for their health

They were drinking green juices, exercising, going to pilates & yoga, eating anti-inflammatory diets, seeing their team of chiropractors/acupuncturists/therapists and yet, paradoxically, their pain remained, their energy was constantly waning, their brains were still foggy, they had a hard time losing the mysterious weight that wouldn’t for the life of them go away, and their digestive health was still leaving them to question “seriously, why is food such a guessing game?!”

It didn’t make a lot of sense to my medically-trained brain

But it was also adding fuel to an inner fire that had already been lit long ago - one I was admittedly hesitant to speak to and write about for fear of being judged by those in my inner circle for being too ‘woo woo’

That inner fire being: this continual inner gravitational pull that I felt towards wanting to understand the importance of honoring the concept of energetic healing under the umbrella of medicine, including removing the stigma of outwardly speaking about the healing potential that spirituality has to offer in overall health & wellbeing

And this one of the largest gaps I see as a women’s health specialist - women feeling holistically disconnected from their bodies, their relationships, their purpose, and their spirituality

The health conscious women I tend to work with have already been through the functional medicine gamut - including the restrictive diets that, sure, did help them lose weight and resolve some of their gut issues in the short-medium term but they were left with high levels of uncertainty (“what am I supposed to eat anymore?”) and fear (“if I get back to eating xyz, will it ruin my progress or make me feel bloated or gain weight again?”)

These women - despite the best of intentions from well-meaning functional medicine providers - had lost touch with their innate abilities to listen to their body’s cues and feel confident in intuitively connecting into their physical (incl food needs), emotional, energetic, & spiritual needs on a daily basis

Historically, medicine has only given value to the physical tissues, and yet, when we look back in time with an expanded view, we see a rich history of cultures that have honored the spiritual and energetic bodies through prayer, meditation, rituals, and ceremonies so as to ground and cleanse the human etheric bodies that actually govern the human physical tissues

With as much as I love and appreciate science and research, it’s important to note that these vital and undeniable parts of us as humans (those parts being our emotional & energetic bodies) have unfortunately gotten lost in the age of evidence, science, technology, and the age of solely relying upon logic & experts to make all decisions for us

And it’s no wonder modern day women feel as if they are chasing their symptoms but never getting to the root of their concerns

It makes total sense to think that it’s our physical tissues that hold all of the power and therefore need the most attention - and certainly our bodies do need tended to on a physical level

Yet, many of my clients struggling with hormonal, joint, & gut health issues get lab panels run and either these tests come back normal or there are abnormalities, they’d get placed a treatment plan to alter their hormones or other biochemical processes, all to find symptoms still remaining (hence, leaving them frustrated “why isn’t this working?”)

Clients find their way to me feeling like they’re in a bit of a conundrum - after having done all the things and been consistent with their team of providers and consistent with every seemingly possible strategy - all to be left feeling confused and worried, wondering “is this symptom just going to be my norm from now on? Have I exhausted all options?”

The answer to:
“Is this symptom just going to be my norm from now on?”
“Have I exhausted all options?”

Is no. No, you haven’t exhausted all options.

Not even close, sister.

There’s much more to your health, healing, & wellbeing than what meets the modern day eye.

Stay tuned for part 2, sharing more about what it is that you already have available to you that inherently is designed to take the over-efforting and over-thinking out of you returning back to your inherent sense of vitality.
